We didn’t really think they were going to do it, but it looks like perhaps Apple took Samsung up on their offer after all (or someone, anyway). Later this month we can apparently expect Apple to debut 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB flash iPod minis, which will only be 75-80% of their current size. Apparently the screen’s also going color too, but will shrink about 0.2-inches from its current size—prices should remain steady, but the 8 gigger could cost $299.
Thinksecret’s apparently also got some new details on the ROKR, which they claim will apparently come in 256MB and 512MB capacities, and that users will be able to download music over the air for $2 a pop—all about what we’d expected from the whole deal.

Since Apple steadfastly refuses to add an FM tuner to the iPod, it’s fallen to third-party vendors to add them as aftermarket accessories. And fortunately for iPod-toting radio lovers, vendors continue to make them better and more versatile. As reported by iLounge, DLO’s mini fm, due out later this year for under $50, snaps onto the top of an iPod mini (including, we assume, the new flash minis due to be announced next week), and draws its power from the mini’s battery (no comment). It also includes a headphone amplifier, which could be handy if you’ve ignored all the warnings and continue to listen to your iPod on the subway.

The Business has learned that Microsoft chairman Bill Gates has persuaded Orange to develop a mobile phone, the SPV C550, which will double as a Microsoft music player. Consumers will keep their music on a computer and transfer it to their mobiles. The music phone will go on sale in HMV’s flagship stores next month. HMV is using Microsoft software to run its digital music internet download service, HMV Digital Jukebox, which can be accessed by the phones.
Microsoft spokesman Jason Langridge said: “The mobile digital music market is about to take off. Porting digital music on to mobile phones represents a massive opportunity for Microsoft. While Apple has sold about 10m iPods worldwide to date, a quarter of the world’s population own mobile phones, which Microsoft software can turn into digital music players.â€
Gates has timed the launch to coincide with his arch-rival Apple founder and chief executive Steve Jobs’ long-awaited unveiling of an iTunes phone, expected this week. Jobs is expected to launch the Motorola iTunes phone, which incorporates the technology of the world’s most successful digital music player, the iPod, into a mobile, at Apple’s annual product show in San Francisco. According to industry sources, the phone will run on the Cingular mobile network in the US and on O2’s UK mobile network.
According to Roger Entner, a US analyst working for telecoms research company Ovum: “Despite their secretive approach to product strategy, it is known that Apple, Motorola and Cingular are planning to announce the new iTunes phone at Macworld in San Francisco this week.â€
Despite Apple’s refusal to comment on the existence of an iTunes phone, Motorola has won US FCC approval for the device, the E970. The phone is designed to function in all big markets and will work across any of the world’s main cellular bandwidths.
Microsoft plans to topple Apple’s iTunes from its position as the world’s best-selling digital music service and make Windows Media Audio the industry standard. The Microsoft-powered phone will do everything that an iPod can but will be incompatible with Apple’s products.
In Silicon Valley, the fight between Gates and Jobs for digital music dominance is seen at the latest battle in a war that has been raging between the two businessmen for 25 years.
But while Gates and Jobs go toe-to-toe next week, UK entrepreneur Richard Branson, head of Virgin Group, is in the wings. Virgin plans to release music phones, but only when it is certain Gates and Jobs have ironed out the bugs. Sources within the company say there will not be a sufficient range of reliable handsets until the middle of 2006. Last week Virgin unveiled its own internet music service, Virgin Digital.

Apple's iPod Mini is to gain a colour display but lose its hard drive in a major, post-ROKR shake-up of the Mac maker's music player line-up.
Like the iPod Shuffle, the Mini will gain Flash storage in place of the hard drive, though its capacity will not be reduced. Instead, it will be relaunched in 4GB, 6GB and 8GB versions. With no hard disk, battery life is likely to be significantly better than the Mini achieves today, though the move to a 1.5in colour display could counter that. The new release will also be smaller, but the general design - display above clickwheel - is expected to remain the same.
Interestingly, Think Secret's description of the Flash-based Mini is not unlike one received of a Flash-based iPod late last year, just before the Shuffle was announced. With the Shuffle presented to the public, we discounted the rumour. We were told the devices was essentially a credit card-sized Mini, complete with display and clickwheel.
The claim ties into recent reports that Apple has been buying significant quantities of Flash chips, thus far expected to form the basis for higher-capacity Shuffles.
According to Think Secret, the Shuffle line will expand to 2GB, but Apple will continue to offer the 512MB and 1GB versions, though at lower prices. The 2GB unit is said to be scheduled to ship for $129-149, with the 512MB Shuffle falling to $69 and the 1GB model dropping to $99.
The Flash Minis are said to be pegged at $199, $249 and $299, respectively.
The report comes just days after Hitachi, which has supplied iPod Mini hard disks to date, announced smaller sized, higher capacity 1in hard drives, due to ship in volume in the updated iPod Mini's anticipated shipment window. Seagate also supplies Apple with Mini hard drives, it is believed.
Think Secret's sources claim the 'ROKR' iTunes phone's two versions will contain 256MB of memory and 512MB, halfway between reports of 128MB of RAM, and 512MB and 1GB.

Tiger Telematics seems to be under the impression that what’s realllllly hurting the Gizmondo in the marketplace is its diminutive aspect ratio. Next year we’re likely to see a new version of the console roll out in widescreen form which, as Tiger CEO Mike Carrender notes, will be “not dissimilar in the size to the screen of the Sony PSP.†Well, maybe after they’ve worked through their screen envy they’ll start to realize there may be some, uh, other factors plaguing their console.

Launched in March across Europe and due for release in US territories at the end of the year, Tiger Telematics' Gizmondo is already being re-designed, with a new version due in 2006.
Speaking in an interview with Next-Gen.biz, Tiger Telematics CEO Mike Carrender stated that the company plans to better compete with Sony's PSP, which enjoyed the biggest launch weekend of any console in the UK, shifting approximately 185,000 units at retail in the first three days.
Based on a Samsung ARM9 400MHz processor and utilising an NVIDIA GeForce 3D 4500 graphics accelerator, the handheld incorporates gaming, MP3 functions, MPEG4 movie playback, digital camera, GPS chip plus Bluetooth, and GPRS for networked gaming and text messaging.
Described by the company as "a high-powered device with multiple features that aren't available elsewhere," the current version of the Gizmondo has a TFT screen which measures 2.8 inches - noticeably smaller than the 4.3 inches of Sony's PSP.
According to Carrender, "Gizmondo are looking at bringing out future generations early next year, a wide screen version of our device that's not dissimilar in the size to the screen of the Sony PSP." With a two-tiered pricing plan, the handheld will be available for USD 400 or USD 239 for an advertising subsidised model which displays up to three consumer adverts per day using Smart Ads.
Retailing at approximately USD 249 for the Value Pack, Sony's PSP would still seem to be a far more commercially viable system, although Carrender believes that 80% of consumers will opt for the ad-subsidised version and is convinced that the additional features of the Gizmondo will boost sales figures.

Tiger Telematics’ Confirms The Completed Development Of The 2006 Release Of A Widescreen Next Generation Model
Gizmondo Europe Ltd subsidiary of Jacksonville, Florida-based Tiger Telematics Inc (other OTC, TGTL) today addressed media speculation that the widescreen model in the Gizmondo range is now developed, following the publishing of unofficial prototype photographs.
The WiFi and GSM Voice-enabled Gizmondo Widescreen had been kept under wraps as part of a multimillion-dollar R&D project. It was developed as a key component of an ongoing product roadmap that currently includes plans for a number of different devices, all of which feature the unique combined functionality of games, music, movies, messaging, a digital camera and GPS technology.
The new Widescreen device will compliment the current Gizmondo, due to launch shortly in North America, and give entertainment-hungry consumers more choice in terms of specification and feature sets, as well as an upgrade path - which will be detailed prior to the projected release in the second quarter of 2006.
As its name entails, the Widescreen has a larger 4" razor-sharp display. The Processor's power and memory are increased to power a suite of new onboard applications serviced via WiFi (WLAN 802.11b/g), Bluetooth 2, and tri-band GSM technology, making it the most powerfully connected handheld entertainment device available. WiFi expands the multiplayer and interconnectivity possibilities for all Gizmondo owners.
Steve Carroll, CTO, Tiger Telematics, says: "We're dramatically increasing the processor power to above 500MHz on this Widescreen model and significantly escalating the amount of memory. Although the 3D graphics accelerator used in the Gizmondo is the current best of breed, this next generation takes us visually into a new dimension."
The new model specification includes:
GSM voice telephony
Handsfree speakerphone
Voice control using voice recognition software
LCD TFT screen 4.0" 480 x 272 pixels
Upgraded 3D graphics chip
Analogue TV out
500MHz (min) processor
Onboard RAM
Onboard flash
SD flash card reader, externally accessible
Transflash card reader for user upgradeable flash memory
GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900MHz or 850/1800/1900MHz tri-band
USB 2.0 OTG
High sensitivity GPS receiver with assist capability
Two analogue joysticks
3.5 Ah Li-Ion 'smart' battery
2 mega pixel auto focus camera with LED flash
Stereo speakers
Bluetooth class 2
WLAN 802.11b/g
Wired stereo headset/mic
Remote control pod for wired headset
Additional features:
SMS/MMS/IM receive and send
Email client
Satellite Navigation
Audio and video playback
Vibration mode
'Flight Mode' – games operational but radio services switched off
Approved for sale initially in USA followed by Europe
Temperature range 0ºC - 55ºC
Windows CE 5.0 operating system and DRM 10
.NET compact framework 2.0
SD card and Transflash interfaces
USB OTG interface for synchronisation to a PC and connecting to a USB memory device
MP3/WMA/HE-AAC audio playback, MPEG-4/H.264/WMV video playback with hardware acceleration
High level 3D games
Smart ADDsTM
Downloadable screen 2D & 3D 'skins' for personalisation/market positioning
Bluetooth support for telephony (Headset/Handsfree), gaming, stereo headset (AV)
Carl Freer, co-founder and Chairman, Tiger Telematics, added; "The convergence technology category is similar to that of cell phones where a one-size-fits all approach does not work. Our long-term objective is to provide a range of entertainment and messaging devices that cater to different entertainment desires. Widescreen will favourably compare to Sony PSP but with even more power and features. Also, ensuring backwards compatibility and a clear upgrade path for future models is an integral part of our multi-product roadmap. A personal favourite feature is the TV/Video out connection which will enable you to play your favourite games on your TV, using the Gizmondo Widescreen like a console joypad."
The new widescreen model and its new features will be unveiled at January's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, giving attendees the chance to try the new hardware out first hand.

Got a special news article for those wanting to buy a <a href="http://www.gbax.com/main.pl?indexgp2x.html" target="_blank" >GP2X</a> before the rest of the world can get their hands on one.
For those that dont know theres a new contender of the Future King of Homebrew Consoles and that console is the GP2X, the console itself is basically a Portable Linux Machine with Dual Cpus running at 200Mhz Each, one of the amazing things about this machine is that Gamepark Holdings have made the Console fully Open Source so that means youll see lots of Emulators and Homebrew on the GP2X from the word go. Some of the Emulation scenes best programmers have already said they are working on it and that includes people like LDChen (PSone Emu), Chui (Snes and NeoCD Emus) theres already a Gameboy emulator running on the console and with the backing of a mass of Developers you will have the ultimate console without the unfair obstructions that Sony and others force on us.
Heres some details off the site:
To sum up the GP2X:
It can play games. It can play your Movies. It can play your music. It can view photos. It can read Ebooks. It runs on just 2 AA batteries - And it can do all this in the palm of your hand or on your TV screen.
Yes that's right, this handheld can connect to the TV, console style. Watch your DivX movies on the TV. Play emulated classics on the TV. Try big screen Quake. Or just play them all on the GP2X's large 320*240 backlit screen. You get the best of both worlds.
It runs the free Linux operating system. This means a whole world of Games, Utilities and Emulators are at your disposal. Quake, Doom, SNES, Megadrive, MAME, Media players and Applications to name just a few.
It's powerful - Two 200mhz CPU's with 64meg of RAM, custom graphics hardware and decoding chips. Takes SD cards and has 64M of NAND memory. Plenty to play with. One of the most powerful and advanced handhelds today.
That means it can play movies without any re-encoding. Just put them onto an SD card. Any size. Any resolution. No messing about. The GP2X scaling chip will resize to fit the screen. No other handheld can do that.
Heres a screenshot:
<img src="http://gp2x-emulation.dcemu.co.uk/blackandwhite.jpg">
Check out the Worldwide Official Seller of the GP2X at this early Sneak Peak address here --> http://www.gbax.com/main.pl?indexgp2x.html
Also Check out our GP2X site Here --> http://gp2x-emulation.dcemu.co.uk/
One thing to remember you can buy it now from them and its advisable to do so as the first shipment will be in limited numbers.

Not sure why they thought it’d be brilliant to officially announce a new version of the Gizmondo before the first one has even gone on sale here in the States, but Tiger Telematics have released some concept images and more details of that new widescreen version of their Gizmondo portable game console they “accidentally†revealed the other day. The specs feel a bit fanciful (we’ve seen these guys overpromise and underdeliver before), but according to their press release this new version will be a bit more PSP-like and have a 4-inch widescreen, 480 x 272 pixel LCD (which Tiger Telematics helpfully describes as being “razor-sharpâ€), built-in 802.11b/g WiFi, at least a 500MHz processor, GSM/GPRS, GPS, an SD card slot, an analog TV-out port, Bluetooth, USB On-The-Go, and a built-in two megapixel digital camera. Should be out in Q2 of 2006.

Nokia is proud to announce that System Rush for the N-Gage platform is shipping to retail stores. A futuristic racing game, System Rush straps players into the pilot seat of a Co-Vec (code vehicle) where they wreck havoc by racing through the hostile networks of virtual corporations. Developed exclusively for the N-Gage platform by Ideaworks 3D, System Rush offers intense multiplayer experience, including four-player shadow racing in the N-Gage Arena and white-knuckle one-on-one battles via Bluetooth connection.
"System Rush is not your typical racing game," said Gregg Sauter, Director, Games Publishing, Nokia. "We took care to create a tangible, futuristic world with remarkable rivals that gamers would yearn to race. With killer house music to set the scene, this title invokes the thrill of competing against elite hackers as the player dashes along the G-force inducing twists and turns."
In System Rush, the player must clear his name of a global cyber crime by locating a code embedded deep within the corrupt GlobeNet networks. With a choice of 15 unique Co-Vec vehicles, the gamer will drift, grip and glide past enemies through 15 insane tracks as he fights to clear his good name.
Gamers can experience the adrenaline of competing through head-to-head battles via Bluetooth connection or delve into the racing community of the N-Gage Arena. With options to unlock limited edition cars, the N-Gage Arena offers additional multiplayer features, including four-player shadow racing, player profiles, online league tables that celebrate outstanding players, and downloadable race clips.

EB Games is finally clearancing out its older stock of new but unused N-Gage games for $6.99 each. If you do order online, add a used game or accessory to get free S&H with the code SAVER at checkout, and use an EB Edge card if you have one for bonus savings. (Support our source with the CAG15 code for further discounts on the used items you order.)
If you’re lucky—and actually interested in Nokia’s mobile games platform (which at least 1% of you seem to be)—then you might still be able to order cheap copies of Colin McRae Rally 2005, Operation Shadow, Spider-Man 2, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Tomb Raider (“Starring Lara Croftâ€), Worms World Party, and/or the original X-Men Legends all for $6.99 each online. As for other titles which have since sold out (and disappeared from the online listings)—such as King of Fighters (“EXTREMEâ€!), Ashen, and Requiem—maybe you’ll have better luck in EB stores, though prices online have been known to vary from those offered in stores in the past.
Also, if you’re still patiently waiting for a great deal on the N-Gage, perhaps now is the time to jump in: Nokia is offering a free copy of X-Men Legends II (or a $25 credit for any other game on the official online store) with a new QD and “service from Cingular or T-Mobile,†which will net you that free after-rebate deal common to not-so-game-centered phones. Whether $7 clearances are good for N-Gage marketing, however, is another question.

So dell attempted to release an ipod suffle knock-off. It is called the Ditty. It was launched silently, (I have no idea why) the product can hold as many songs as a $99 ipod suffle, and has a FM radio. The only thing it has on the shuffle is a really tiny screen. if you want to you can see the product launch site but its rather terrible. http://www.dellditty.com/

More from Firefly
Today I reverse engineered the driver for the Micronas audio chip and can now play MP3 files (only those are supported) with hardware acceleration. The CPU usage for playing an MP3 file with this driver is ~5% while the same MP3 file consumes ~19% when played with the Gizmondo music player. The driver also shows signs of MIDI support (another hardware/chip feature) but it doesn't work, probably not yet finished by the developers.
EDIT: The driver does support MIDI files but they have to be in a certain format.

Firefly posted that this may be in the Homebrew SDK for the Gizmondo:
I still need to take a look at Bluetooth and verify the reverse engineered GPS data more deeply so that I can add those things to the SDK. I'm not going to do GPRS because that would be too costly. I also started working on THE application a few days ago. Some people (pre-alpha testers) might get THE application during or after the weekend.
The following features will be supported by my customized WinCE 4.2 SDK for Gizmondo.
- Button support (F1..F5, PLAY, STOP, etc.)
- OpenGL ES 1.0 for 3D hardware control
- Camera "Capture" (640 x 480) and "Preview" (320 x 240 or smaller size)
- Hardware playback of MP3 and MIDI (limited), including volume control and pause/resume.
- Vibration control
- Playback of video (wmv/mpg) and audio (wma/mp3/wav) files
- GPS information (latitude, longitude, etc.)
- maybe Bluetooth if useable (todo)
and maybe third party libraries for handling PNG (libpng), JPG (libjpeg), OGG (tremor) or other file types. Open source library suggestions are welcome.

Michael Ryssen (Kokak) has released a new Amstrad Emulator for the Series 60 phones, heres some info:
Core of the S60-CPC emulation is based on WIN-CPC by Ludovic Deplanque and EDoom for UIQ by Peter van Sebille. S60-CPC is donationware
Planned modifications for next versions
- Support for snapshots.
- Support for frameskip.
- Support for DSK dependant config files (so each game would have its own keys, display, audio, etc. settings).
- Add a screen rotation choice (left/right).
- Maybe, I will add links to some CPC games I wrote in the late 80's.

Zodttd has released the Worlds first Playstation Emulator for the Tapwave Zodiac over at Zodiac Gamer forums, the emulator is a port of PCSX, heres what the coder posted:
Quick update. It's late and I'm sleepy so this update sorta stinks. I thought I fixed the MDEC movie problem, but it still is a black & white flickering mess, though in the correct proportions! Hehe. The buttons should be configed to match the PSX now. If they're not, which there's a strong chance they might be wrong since I didn't have time to test it, let me know. Soon it will be time for sleep for me.
Check out the above link for the download etc.

Zodttd has released a port of Beats of Rage for the Tapwaze Zodiac on the Zodiac Gamer Forums, heres the full info:
PALMBoR runs fullscreen on the Zodiac with full sound.
I decided not to use Skeezix's BoR code due to ethical reasons. I figured getting donations based on very similar work would be weird. I did play Skeezix's version just now and saw the ability to load different BoR packs in a menu system. That's a good idea. Didn't think about people using more than one pack.

Nokia announced that it has started shipping Capcom's first game on the N-Gage platform – Catan. Inspired by Klaus Teuber's award-winning board game, Settlers of Catan, which has sold over 15 million copies, the N-Gage version finally takes the game mobile. Catan fans now have the opportunity to discover, settle and trade on the go. Catan on the N-Gage platform offers turn-based strategy multiplayer gaming for up to four players via Bluetooth wireless technology.
"Catan on the N-Gage platform is highly anticipated by the original board game fans. We believe the new mobile multiplayer version of Catan will be very popular with new fans as well," said Gregg Sauter, Director, Games Publishing, Nokia. " Fans also get great Japanese pop-style artwork, created by well-known illustrator Susumo Matsushita, as well as some very colorful characters."
In Catan gamers can compete with each other to build roads, settlements and cities. Gamers will occupy new land to develop into communities with the aim of expanding their civilization and squeezing out competitors. The N-Gage Arena provides tips and hints to gamers as they roll the dice to get the commodities they need to build new roads, cities and settlements. Players can also upload their high score to the N-Gage Arena. Catan offers a balanced mix of tactic, strategy, interaction and - of course – luck.

Most businesses aren’t immediately profitable, we know that. You’re very lucky if your startup—especially if it’s a tech startup—isn’t in the hole for a number of years even after taking off (see: TiVo). But according to an SEC filing on the company we love to rib, Tiger Telematics (makers of the Gizmondo portable game system), the company lost $11.1, $8, and then $99 million dollars in 2002, 2003, and 2004, respectively. Ok, so that’s a pretty steep incline in losses—more than 10x in one year?—but, man, someone must have gone to town between January and June of this year, because their operating losses for the first half of 2005 are already at $210 million. So basically to pull this all together: Tiger’s in the whole for $328 million with a faltering business model selling a perpetually unsuccessful console competing against the PSP and DS—and to add insult to injury, they’re licking their wounds with a continuing series of self-aggrandizing press releases. Seriously, do we really have to spell this out any more?

Master Chief has already cleaned the Covenant's alien armies off a spaceship, a ring-world, and the entire planet Earth--and now it looks like cell phones will be next.
At the CTIA IT Wireless and Entertainment 2005 trade show today, mobile game publisher In-Fusio announced that it had secured a three-year agreement with Microsoft for the mobile rights to the Halo universe. The company has also announced that the first Halo-inspired applications for phones are due later this year on North American carriers, with other regions to follow.
Although In-Fusio would not officially confirm what kinds of Halo apps are in the offing, it did offer a few hints. According to the terms of the agreement, In-Fusio will be able to develop and publish "downloadable and embedded" mobile Halo products.
This suggests that the company is working on a number of different types of content, such as games of various degrees of complexity, ringtones, screensavers, and wallpaper.
In a telephone interview with In-Fusio vice president of business development and brand development Julian Corbett, he indicated that the mobile publisher is participating in ongoing discussions with Microsoft's Bungie Studios in order to decide exactly what sorts of applications will be most appropriate for mobile phones.
â€We're working very closely with Bungie throughout the process," Corbett said, "and we're going to be combining our specialty in mobile entertainment with the Halo universe...obviously, we won't be putting the Xbox Halo on cell phones, but we see a number of compelling ways to expand the franchise to mobile."
Corbett went on to intimate that in-Fusio would take a holistic approach to the project, mentioning the community-driven product Neopets as an example of the company's basic methodology.
In-Fusio has had an existing publishing relationship with Microsoft since 2004. So far, the company has published mobile versions of Midtown Madness 3, Zoo Tycoon 2, Age of Empires 2, Banjo-Kazooie, Sabre Wulf, and It's Mr. Pants.

Tiger Telematics has released its delayed financial results in a report which shows giant losses for the company along with some interesting explanations as to where investors' money has gone.
According to the report, Tiger faced net losses of around USD 99 million in 2004, and an operating loss of USD 210 million over the first half of 2005. The company blamed these figures on "Development costs for the Gizmondo and non-cash expenses associated with shares of restricted common stock issued for services."
Tiger was able to secure more funding throughout the period, receiving USD 73.1m in investment capital during the period ending August 2005. An extra 24.7m shares of common stock were issued, earning the company more than USD 200m.
Costs have included a USD 5.9m contract Gizmondo Europe signed with Electronic Arts to develop FIFA and SSX games for the handheld, and the operating costs of the company's global network of offices.
In addition, Gizmondo Europe paid independent developer Games Factory Publishing USD 4 million for coming up with concepts for use with 19 Intellectual Properties including Cheerio's, the New Millennium Encyclopedia, Outlaw Golf, Weather Control and Typing Tutor. The latter IP is a particularly curious addition since the Gizmondo has no keyboard, keypad or touch screen.
Perhaps more intriguingly, Gizmondo Europe also paid independent developer Northern Lights USD 3.5 million to create the games Chicane and Colors. However, these games were in fact developed by two differerent studios - Warthog and Indie Studios, both of which are owned by Gizmondo Europe.
Northern Lights, coincidentally, is owned by Gizmondo Europe director Carl Freer together with Stefan Eriksson, executive officer for Gizmondo Europe.
The coincidences don't end there. During 2004-2005, Tiger hired a consultant who was paid more than USD 170,000 for "Marketing and public relations services, an introduction to the performer Sting, and time spent in connection with the Agaju gaming concept currently in development." The consultant's name? Anneli Freer, aka Mrs Carl Freer.
The report goes on to state that Tamela Sainsbury, the corporate secretary of Gizmondo Europe, was paid nearly USD 150,000 in base compensation during 2004, plus USD 83,000 in bonuses. She was also provided with a "luxury automobile" worth USD 70,000. Tamela Sainsbury lives with her partner, Steve Carroll, who incidentally is a director of the company.
It's clear from the report that Gizmondo executives have a taste for luxury cars - Carroll had a vehicle worth more than USD 230,000 bought for him by the company, while Carl Freer's "automobile allowance" for the year stood at just under USD 280,000. Stefan Eriksson's allowance was a more modest USD 104,000.
Freer, Sainsbury, Carroll and Eriksson each earn at least USD 1.5m a year and have been allocated more than 7.5m shares - worth more than USD 94m.
The report also reveals that some employees have been helping themselves to automobile perks: "In 2004, the company issued 800,000 shares valued at USD 1.8m to Joe Marten for services rendered to the company," it states.
Marten was head of investor relations at the time, but later "Left the employment of Gizmondo Europe after the company's board of directors learned that Mr. Marten had made an unauthorized purchase of a luxury automobile using Gizmondo Europe's funds."
The release of the report could signal troubled times for the company - investors are unlikely to be happy with the stranger revelations, or with the fact that no sales figures for the Gizmondo unit itself have been revealed.
Gizmondo, which recently settled lawsuits with the Jordan F1 racing team and landlords Christian and Timbers, continues to face legal action from an ever-growing list of plaintiffs. PR company Ogilvly claims it is owed USD 4.1m plus interest for services rendered during 2003 and 2004, while Handheld Games is suing over a development contract.
In addition, MTV Networks Europe recently announced that it is "reserving its right to bring legal proceedings for payment of outstanding invoices" after Gizmondo failed to hand over an agreed USD 1.5m by the deadline of March 31, 2005.

Just days after releasing a financial report that showed huge losses for Gizmondo creator Tiger Telematics, the company has announced plans to get its filings up to date and apply for listing on NASDAQ.
If approved, Tiger said in a statement, the listing will allow the company "to engage a much larger investor base as it permits retail solicitation orders and research by analysts. Tiger's common stock will then be considered a marginable security for loans."
Tiger co-founder and chairman Carl Freer said: "We are gearing up our inventory as a result of an unexpected surge in sales. We also need product in the USA for our upcoming launch in time for the Christmas season."
"Recent updates from our manufacturers allow us to expect to have Gizmondos available to meet the increasing demand."
Freer said that the company's investment bank was backing the move and that a registration statement for securities was a possibility in the near future.
He also confirmed that Gizmondo plans to have 89 titles on the market by the end of 2005, adding: "We envision an upcoming period of growth, having evolved from a development company to a solid entertainment and communication company."
